7075-T6 Aluminum Leg Link for Robot Dog

Quadruped robots run on leg linkages, so parts like these need to hit a practical balance: light enough not to bog down leg movement, and stiff enough to hold up under cyclic loading without bending. A customer in robotics reached out to us to build a prototype set of matched left‑right custom robot dog leg link for their robot dog. These custom robot dog leg links feature free‑form curved geometry with built‑in stiffening ribs, mounting holes on both ends, and an open eyelet. We machined the complete parts from solid 7075‑T6 aluminum billet on a 5‑axis machining center, leaving an as‑machined surface finish.
The customer selected 7075-T6 aluminum for this pair of leg links, and the choice hinges on bending load resistance. A leg link undergoes constant bending stress with every stride the robot takes, demanding the highest possible strength-to-weight ratio for precision machining. 7075-T6 delivers significantly higher strength than 6061 aluminum at nearly the same weight, allowing the design to maintain a thin, lightweight web while effectively resisting flex in critical areas.
Project Details
Part type: Custom Quadruped Robot Leg Link (mirrored L/R pair)
Material: AL 7075-T6
Machining Process: 5-axis CNC Milling
Surface Finish: As-machined
Before shipping, we inspected the dimensions that drive assembly, Because leg parts like this usually go through several design revisions before they’re locked in, our value here is fast prototype turnaround and low-minimum pilot runs — so the customer can iterate quickly and, once the design is frozen, reorder the same pair with the same accuracy every time.
