5-Axis CNC Machining of a Custom Aluminum 7075 Shrouded Centrifugal Impeller

The impeller is designed for use in a industrial fluid handling system, requiring precise dimensional control, optimal aerodynamic performance, and structural integrity to operate under high rotational speeds and pressure differentials. The custom design, combined with the material’s unique properties, necessitated the use of 5-axis CNC machining to achieve the complex geometries and tight tolerances required for reliable operation.

The outer shroud is machined from the same solid billet to ensure maximum structural rigidity.
The finished impellers meet all design requirements, with precise blade geometry, tight tolerances, and balanced performance. The 5-axis CNC machining process enables the production of complex, high-performance components in a single setup, reducing production time and minimizing dimensional errors.
