CNC Machining of Custom Aluminum Cooling Fans

The component shown is a custom 4-blade axial fan designed for a high-performance cooling application. Manufactured from Aluminum 6061-T6, the design features complex airfoil blade geometry for optimized airflow and a central internal spline for precise torque transmission. The project required maintaining strict blade profile tolerances while ensuring a balanced mass distribution.

Roughing Complete. The bulk material has been removed, defining the general airfoil shape. The component is shown awaiting final 5-axis finishing to achieve the specified surface quality.
Manufacturing starts with removing large amounts of material from a solid aluminum block. A high-efficiency roughing process is used to establish the basic blade structure. Adequate material is left on the blade surfaces to allow for stress relief and thermal expansion before the finishing operation.
