5-Axis CNC Milling of Aluminum Servo Motor Mounts

The component shown is a custom aluminum motor mount, a CNC machined motor mount designed to secure a high-torque servo motor within an industrial automation assembly.
The distinctive U-shaped geometry allows for clearance of coupling mechanisms while providing a rigid connection between the motor flange and the machine frame. custom aluminum motor mounts manufactured from Aluminum 6061-T6 ensure sufficient stiffness to resist motor torque while minimizing the overall mass of the moving carriage.
The mounting face for the motor must be perfectly perpendicular to the base mounting holes to prevent shaft misalignment, which causes vibration and bearing failure.
By utilizing a 5-axis machining center, all critical mounting planes were machined in a single clamping setup. This eliminates cumulative errors associated with manual re-positioning, ensuring the fit tolerance between the two connection interfaces is maintained within 0.02mm.
