Custom Black POM (Delrin/Acetal) CNC Machining

A client approached us with a request involving black POM CNC machining to create a custom structural housing for an industrial assembly. The part was specified to use Black POM (Delrin/Acetal) for its high stiffness, electrical insulation properties, and dimensional stability, which are critical for maintaining accuracy in variable operating environments.
The design features irregular internal pockets of varying depths and multiple through-holes machined into a solid block. In plastic machining, uneven material removal often releases internal material stresses, potentially causing the part to bow or twist. Additionally, maintaining tight tolerances on holes requires strict heat control, as POM is susceptible to thermal expansion during the drilling process.
Thanks to our machining process optimized specifically for engineering plastics, the finished Black POM components achieved excellent dimensional stability with no visible warping. The pocket walls and hole edges were machined to a smooth, burr-free finish, ensuring the parts fully met the client’s functional requirements for precise assembly.
